Jaz (they/them) is a doctoral candidate in Composition and Music Technology at Northwestern’s Bienen School of Music. After participating in a variety of Searle Center programs, Jaz joined the Searle Center as the Educational Development Coordinator in fall 2023. In this position, they support the Reflective and Effective Teaching Program (RET)—particularly the Canvas course site and ePortfolio project. For the 2024-2025 academic year, they are also a reflective teaching guide for RET, facilitating discussion groups and offering feedback on participants’ authentic artifacts.

In addition to their work with the Searle Center, Jaz is a graduate assistant for Northwestern’s Teaching and Learning Technologies unit (TLT). In this position, they help remediate accessibility issues in Canvas course sites, contribute to TLT programming, and host an interview-based podcast on innovative teaching practices at Northwestern called Pedagogy Pulse.
