Student Experiences in STEM

Student Experiences in STEM is an evidence-driven reading circle focusing on students’ experiences, development, and their perceptions of commonly used learning practices and the classroom environment. Recommended for those pursuing the CIRTL Certificate. 

The next session will take place on Wednesday, February 26th from 11 am to 12 pm CT.

Overview

This 60-minute reading circle focuses on evidence to explore students’ experiences, development, and their perceptions of commonly used active learning practices and the classroom environment. We will focus on collaborative learning, problem-solving, critical thinking, engagement and participation in STEM classrooms.

Objectives

Participants will
  • Enhance knowledge of scholarly literature, pedagogical frameworks, and practices that enhance learning in STEM classrooms through empirical readings, self-reflection, and dialogue.

Eligibility

Open to graduate students, postdocs, staff, and instructors at all stages of their careers.

This program is part of the broader CIRTL at Northwestern efforts aimed at supporting future faculty—STEM and social science graduate students and postdocs may participate in this program as part of the CIRTL Certificate Program.
