Customized Workshop
Educational development at its best begins with curiosity and shared exploration. Our customized workshops open the door to generative conversations shaped by each department/program’s distinctive culture of learning and teaching. Together, we might deepen our understanding of evidence-informed pedagogies, strengthen course design and reimagine assessment, or build more inclusive and connected learning environments.
Workshops can explore topics ranging from navigating classroom dynamics and integrating AI thoughtfully, to mapping curriculum, enhancing instructor vitality, or designing SoTL projects. Collaborative inquiry can open a wide landscape of possibilities from energizing teaching practice, aligning goals to supporting the collective growth and wellbeing of the instructional community.

Engaging with the Searle Center: Programs, Initiatives, & Resources
Discover how the Searle Center can support teaching, professional growth, and scholarly interests. This presentation highlights opportunities for faculty to engage with programs, services, resources, and a vibrant cross-disciplinary teaching community. Participants learn how to connect with Searle offerings aligned with their goals and career stage. Available as a 15- or 30-minute presentation.
Inclusive Teaching Card Game
Learn, connect, and problem-solve with colleagues through an interactive exploration of Northwestern Principles of Inclusive Teaching. Using realistic classroom scenarios tailored to your teaching context and evidence-based strategy cards, participants discuss approaches to common teaching challenges, share perspectives, and identify practical techniques for fostering belonging, learning, and student success. Available as a 45- or 60-minute workshop.
Explore how instructors can support learning during periods of uncertainty, conflict, and crisis. This interactive workshop transforms our Teaching During Turbulent Times Learning & Teaching Guide into an engaging and collaborative learning experience. Through discussion, reflection, and real-world application, participants engage with evidence-informed strategies for responding to challenging events, supporting student well-being, and fostering productive classroom dialogue. Participants leave with adaptable tools they can apply in their own teaching contexts. Available as a 45- or 60-minute workshop.
With greater utilization of departmental/programmatic requests, we hope to maximize the benefits of “being invited in” to surface the community’s emerging needs, consult on effective approaches, synthesize topical resources, and tailor programming to the specific learning and teaching context.
